This is a recipe from a website called Add A Pinch, recommended by my friend, Ayse. I like it because it is full of flavor, easy to make and uses ingredients I usually have on hand. I make these sandwiches on baseball nights so I can pack a few and we can eat them in the stands – much better than concession hotdogs!
Ingredients (in order of use):
Sloppy Joes – 20 minutes
1.3 lbs. ground beef
½ onion, chopped small
1 clove garlic, minced
1 pepper (or a few small ones), chopped
2 tsp. worcestershire sauce
½ cup ketchup
1 tsp. vinegar
1 tsp. brown sugar
1 Tbsp. BBQ sauce
¼ cup water
salt and pepper
dash of red pepper flakes
Let’s Cook!
Brown the ground beef and drain off fat. Meanwhile, chop onion, garlic and pepper (green tastes better in this but I only had red/yellow.) Add to the meat. Sauté for 5 minutes, then add everything else.
That’s it! Couldn’t be easier, you know what all the ingredients are and it is simple to pack to go, which I did for Greg and met him on the ball field!
